 What an exciting week of activity this has been! Two gallery shows opened this past Friday on East Ohio Street. You will not be disappointed if you stop by The Fein Gallery to see the work of Kathleen Zimbicki  or Treasures Gallery who is hosting artist Robert Sands.
 
We experienced an especially delicious day last Tuesday when Mexican War Street resident chef Coe visited the Bistro and introduced us to warm, authentic New Orleans Beignets! Wow! One bite and we were hooked! 
This self taught chef happens to also be a fabulous photographer whose travels have taken him around the world including exotic stops in Cairo, Moscow, Bangkok and Buenos Aires, always with camera in hand and eyes peeled for exotic and savory culinary creations. Yet Coe's favorite U.S. vacation spot remains New Orleans. It was there he discovered the popular Café du Monde in the French Market. Locals and tourists swarm this 24-hour coffee shop for Café au Lait and famous beignets (pronounced ben-YAY), a French donut covered with confectioner's sugar. For Coe, it was love at first bite. He just had to create his own fresh yeast-risen beignets. While Café due Monde cuts them into two-inch squares, Coe prefers to cut them into triangles for better presentation and easier eating. Perfection done perfectly! Coe's beignets boast crispy exteriors and soft-textured interiors; fluffy and sweet and now available Tuesday mornings at his favorite neighborhood eatery, Bistro-to-Go. Once we discovered and tasted these luscious morsels we knew he had to share these yummy Louisiana treats with you!
Visit Tuesday from 8-11 am to meet Coe and try a real New Orleans Beignet and the famous chicory coffee served at Cafe Du Monde!

Sunday, July 27 
        We will be taking a Sunday summer holiday. The Bistro will be closed on Sundays only for the next few weeks. We will re-introduce regular Sunday hours on August 24th with an End of the Summer Celebration! Please plan on joining us as Joy Ike an accomplished local vocalist will be performing from 1:00-2:30 on August 24th. More details to follow.
